About This Activity
Respectful Swim Teaching offers swimming lessons for infants and toddlers with an approach centred on each child’s individual development, personality and learning pace. Rather than expecting every child to progress in the same way, lessons are adapted according to developmental milestones and each learner’s response to the water. This allows age-appropriate swimming skills to be introduced while setting realistic expectations for the child’s learning journey. The teaching approach recognises that young children have different personalities, experiences and levels of confidence. Coaches tailor their methods accordingly, creating lessons that remain relevant and engaging as each child develops their skills and comfort in the water. Parents are also kept involved throughout the learning process through ongoing communication with the coaches. This helps parents understand their child’s progress, learning needs and development while maintaining alignment between the instructor and family. The programme is suitable for families looking for an individualised approach to early-years swimming where progress is guided by the child’s development rather than a one-size-fits-all learning pace.
